Topic: Experience with qualitative effect on 750F handling of 3" longer swingarm?

I'm deciding whether to go to the work of shortening a swingarm for a swap on my '75 750F. I know the standard answer of 'longer swingarm increases straight line stability', but I'm wondering how much 3" extra length will kill my 'fun' handling. Does anyone have personal experience with this?

It will be a bugger to take 3" out of this arm, but I do like going around corners

I have 78 F arms to trade, not sure if they are same as 75F.

Why not just try it, if you do a lot of Hiway, you may like it..

 I think the 78 is an inch longer, not sure about  brake mounts.

By that logic, maybe I should get a 750 swingarm for my 550.  Shorten the bike up, probably pitch the frame forward a bit too (shocks mounts probably closer to the pivot which would give it a higher rear with the 550 shocks).

I just mocked the long ('03 Ninja) swingarm up with a stock rear wheel/tire and, along with the CBR600RR front forks being shorter, the overall wheelbase is only about an inch longer than my stock '75 F bike. Hmm, maybe I won't bother with shortening the swingarm - though it may look a little funny from a visual balance standpoint this way.
