Best gasket set for CB750? (Cycle X)
« on: May 03, 2010, 08:25:08 AM »
Since Cycle Xchange is sold out, where can you get the good gasket set (1976 CB750K)?  The Athena and Vesrah both seem to be missing key components.

Doesn't Cometic still make sets for the 750's?

They would be the best way to go second to Honda.

If Z1 Enterprises has them, they aren't listed on their website

I can't quite tell since I don't know the brand, but it looks like the 6 black pucks you need aren't included.

They do sell them individually tho, $3 each

So $100 for a full gasket set, vs Cycle X for $60 :(

Plus oil seals.

I think Cyclex is just a Vesrah kit, nothing special there.

They specifically say in their blurb
Athena gasket sets are missing the  "o" rings for the valve inspection covers.
Vesrah gasket sets are missing the 6 cam tower plugs ( quarter size plugs under the cam tower )
Our gasket sets are COMPLETE, with all necessary gaskets and "O" rings for a rebuild. ( oil seals are separate )

Oh, so it's probably just an Athena set with the o-rings, sorry about that.

I dunno, I'd probably try to go all Honda or Cometic if it was me on a rebuild.

I haven't had the pleasure of changing mine so I couldn't tell you.
I have heard of the Athena and Vesrah gaskets not being of great quality.

i've heard the same.  i've seen pictures of the athena's straight out of the box with severely warped bores and other gaskets not even being close to fitting and true...  but Ken doesn't like to sell really crappy parts, and it looks like he bunches them all together and shrink wraps them all before shipping, so maybe you're getting decent quality?

I just did mine with Cycle x's kit.So far so good,I just put about 100 miles on my rebuild and no leaks.(HD studs probably helped)Nothing like a Carpy pipe and fresh compression,SAWEEET!
its better to regret something you have done, than something you havent.Except playing with explosives.
