has anyone tried por 15 for frame repaint
« on: January 30, 2006, 07:48:39 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has used por 15 hardnose paint, they say it is for industrial use. But in their product information they mention using it on a motorcycle chasis as an example of it's uses.

If I was redoing a frame, I would have it powdercoated.  Damn near bulletproof and last forever.

Pay once or pay a lot.

I would say it is worth trying. After all, the tank kit is great, I would think the rest has a good chance of being decent. I dont know what it costs but, it is something I might try sometime when I actually pull the motor.

I just orderd some yesterday for my frame.  I got a can of POR-15 Rust Preventative Paint (non-UV protected), and some Chassiscoat Black (UV Protected) to go on top.  It'll take me a while before I do the frame, but I'll try to remember to post on the boards with my results.

POR-15 is the shiznit.. I have not personally used it but I have seen their exhaust paint, I've seen it used on chassis, as an undercoat, the stuff is awesome!

I've used it on the centre stand, it's great stuff (will not chip off).  I don't know if I would use it to do a frame, it goes on thick, and you still have to do a top coat.  If I were to do a frame, I'd have it powder coated... just my $0.02
