What is your favorite Beatles Song?
« on: May 12, 2010, 06:44:28 AM »
A couple of weeks ago we saw a Beatles tribute concert at the Darwin Entertainment Centre by Beatle Magic.
It all began with the early days of the Beatles, right up until the untimely death of John Lennon.
Being a bit of a Beatles hard case myself, there are too many songs to pick a favorite.
They played this at full throttle, and it nearly blew the roof off of the joint.  :D

If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

Depends on my mood.  Right now, on a cold, cloudy, slightly snowy Spring morning, this one is nice:

Hard to pin down just one favorite.  One of the very early ones I like is Baby It's You.  Nowhere Man would be another. Help is great for the insight it gives into John Lennon.  Insecure, overwhelmed by the Beatlemania, and looking for a way out as early as 1965.

Well after preparing for the flames, I have to admit I only like 1 beetles song. While my guitar gently weeps, I like it even better when it was done by Vinnie Moore OR the Harrison tribute version that had his son playing it.
Other than that, any beetles song I have heard, I dont like. Sorry. But then I am sure much of what I like, many of you wouldn't so I guess it is ok. ;)

Just to name a few.... I've seen McCartney in concert 5 or 6 times since 1990 and have never been disappointed.

The lineup he's been using the last 10 years has been the best.

depends on the day really. i prefer the really early stuff and the really late stuff recorded by george martin, without all the overdubbing and reverse tape playback. i think that Dig A Pony has to be my pretty regular favorite, I Me Mine, Get Back (with Billy Preston) i like pretty much all of Help too.

Hey Mick,
often wondered if that cover band is any good, sounds like it was.
In my work car I have the full beatles remastered collection on cd's, and stored very carefully in a cupboard I have the original blue boxed collection (10 albums), which have only ever been played once when I put them onto cassette tape (a long time ago - have had that box since about '82). I have books, videos.....love it.
Fav song? Mmmm, too many to mention. Didn't really get into the Revolver album or Yellow Sub, but the rest are all good.
While my guitar gently weeps (Inigo - we have that tribute dvd - George's son doesn't so much "play" it, but strums away on an acoustic in the background - Eric Clapton nailed it, as you'd expect!)
Mr Postman

......I could go on for hours.
I know a lot of the songs were covers but nobody did them like the beatles (IMO).

Ticket to Ride is another favorite.  This is an interesting clip.  I wonder if the second song is a very early performance of Yesterday before the record was out given the lack of audience response when the song is introduced.  Lennon's response after the song is quite funny.

Well, it's more than 1 song, but I like side 2 medley on Abbey Road, "Mean Mr. Mustard" to "The End".

Anything that was written by John is good too. "Being for the benefit of Mr. Kite" or "Everybodys got something to hide except for me and my monkey".

The list goes on and on.....
