The King & Queen seat was on the K model that came out earlier in the 70s, not the F model.

But still, you get the idea. ;)

Hey, I don't "have a dog in this hunt".

However, 'looks like your "Seat Project' is finally underway! ('Been watching all along.)

I'm glad for you guys wanting the seats and for Corbin, too.

Two-Tired bails things out once more! He is a real asset to this Forum and to all of us, repeatedly. (He [and others] certainly helped me with elec problems and I'm very grateful!)

Ain't nostalgia fun!!!!! And, ain't these 'ol bikes fun!!!!!

GOOD LUCK with your project, guys -
Gaither ('77 CB550F)

Pretty clear that a Gunfighter is the way to go at this point. Haven't figured out the trim issue yet, but I'll let you know when we have an idea. Originally Mike said we could probably transfer the trim to our seat, but if it's that hard to come by, perhaps we'd be better served to come up with a better solution.

I would think the "Trimless" option might be the slightly more popular, simply because they are the types of little bits that degrade/dissappear after such a long time.

So, I've been thinking (maybe over-thinking) about the why the stock seat has a bump in it just ahead of the cowl.  I would think that Honda looked at "styling lines", yet they still put that "duck tail" in the stock seat.

At first I thought it was for passenger comfort, so the tail bone doesn't contact the cowl on big bumps, and it would help the passenger "register" on the seat so as to avoid sitting on the cowl itself.

Then I thought about sitting on the plastic cowl and hitting a pot hole while riding.  Is the plastic cowl strong enough to hold up without breakage?  I think I would be pretty bummed if I patched and painted a cowl, and a passenger broke the cowl while riding.

Your thoughts?

Most likely the ductail is there to stop the passenger sliding off the back...ever been a passenger on a bike that is accelerating fast? Easy enough to be caught out by a sudden burst of speed at take off. That and the comfort feeling for the passenger of not feeling like he/she is about to slide off.

Yeah. I'd say I'd ask Corbin what they think about using the passenger area of a gunfighter (solo) seat as a place to really sit. I wonder if the foam is up to it, other than short rides, and if they even recomend it. Its going to have a slight tilt down to the rear, or at least level, either of which would be death to an unprepared passenger.

That's what the "Gunfighter and Lady" is for. It has a pocket and a rear flip to "register" the passenger.

My HawkGT has the G & L. It was a real sacrifice to the looks dept, the solo seat looks so much cleaner, but I'd never put a passenger on the solo seat, and at times I'm called on to ride 2 up. On the K not so much as it had a big seat to begin with.  Still, the G&L has a nice pocket for the driver, the same Cafe style buttstop and is lower than stock. While riding you never see the "Lady" part, and feel good in the gunfighter part.

The G&L also has the provision for a backrest which doubles as a sissy bar for luggage.

I like the solo Gunfighter. Who goes 2 up on these bikes? You could get a smooth line to the cowling (like the CBX etc).

Bryce,

The plan all along has been for Corbin to reward the person that brings them their bike a free seat. Small price for Corbin to pay. It's not a 1 day thing either. TT had to leave his bike with R & D for perhaps a month or until they are done.

This has taken us the better part of a year to make this happen. I'm glad it's happening finally.

I reckon there are a few of us.  The 750 works very well as a two-up bike.

Yeah, I do.

It's one of the reasons why I got the 750.  The 550s are great solo.  But, two up requires more power planning.
