Please refer to the 750F thread also. Some of us are interested in getting a new Corbin Gunfighter seat made. They only list 1979 and up. They can/will make new seats for us but they have to physically have a 75-78 750F at their factory in Hollister, CA for a full day. They make a fiberglass mold on the bike. That first seat will be finished that day and subsequent seats can be made from that mold. I spoke with Travis at Corbin this morning. He said the cost would be approximately $379.

I'm hoping someone else that lives close enough to the factory and would like to get a new seat made can get this started. Any takers?

I actually have the old gunfighter on the bike in my avatar, and I'm probably closer than any of you. Sad thing is that the bike's not running so I can't bring it to Hollister :(

Maybe I can get Joe to drive his truck down with a frame, tank, and seat for mock up.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

My f is currently not running.  But if they get these seats up and out on the markey I would definitely pick one up.

Sean,

Good to hear from you. How's school. Hope you got the message I sent about APE. That would be great if you could find the time to make the seat happen but it would sure be easier if one of the guys could ride in and have their seat made. Hint hint. Who's the volunteer??

We need to impress upon the old vendors that there IS a market out there. We've done just that with Big Jay at APE, Buzz at Dynoman. etc. I did ask how many we needed to order as a group buy to make it happen and Travis said only the first bike would be required. I'm starting my project and would love to have one of these seats also.

Maybe they could use yours as a starting point.  If I would have know me posting a picture of mine would have caused this much of a stir, I would have done it quite some time ago.

here are the photo's of mine.  It's very nice, although not in that great of shape.  If someone had a decent stock seat, I'd be more than happy to send mine to Corbin for them to use it as a go by.
Cheers!

Great topic! If I lived closer, I would definitely let them borrow my bike. But Alas, I am in Indiana. If this happens, I will take one of those seats though!

Just to let you guys know, I just did a followup email to Corbin referencing my conversation with Travis. I included links to this thread and the 750F thread. I also mentioned that we have had 16,994 members join our little network. Hopefully that will ellicit a positive response from Corbin. I also said I hoped they might be able to find that original mold.

Here is the response I promptly received. Any of you F guys want a "loaner bike" to ride while your's is in the shop? Might be a nice swap out!! Sean, this could work out well for you  ;)

Hi Jerry,

Mike has expressed interest in renewing our tooling for the classic
CBs, however I would like to clarify something...

When we borrow a bike to establish a production part, we need the
bike in our R&D shop for 3-4 WEEKS. So we'll need to find someone
willing to go without for about a month.

We can build custom "one-offs" using a stock basepan or one off
Corbin pan in a single day when someone comes to the factory. But at
the end of the day, we have just a one-off part, nothing that we
could duplicate or make again.

Hope this helps and thanks very much for your consideration! If
someone turns up around central California we'd love to discuss with
them the possibility of a loaner.
Happy Trails,
Greg

Do they need the whole bike? I'm not TOO far away, shipping on the tail section shouldn't all that expensive. I wonder if they want the entire bike so that actual comfort and rideability can be checked out.
So much to do, so little time.

Yes, the whole bike. Call them and ask for Greg. Tell him you're from the forum and mention his email to me. See what he'll do for a loaner! Sounds like a good deal to me.

I have my nicely restored '78 with a blown cylinder, as well as spare '78 and '76 seats w/ tail sections. What I don't have is any cash :( I'll be talking with joeb this weekend, and maybe we can trailer my bike and spare seats to Hollister. They're just gathering dust in my garage, might as well gather dust at Corbin.

I'll call Greg after I talk with joeb.

I thought you might like to have a nice loaner bike considering your's is down ;) I wonder what he has to offer?? Just don't tell him your's is down!

As long as the Corbin seat is not a permanent addition to your tailpiece I'd be glad to take that first seat.

I am willing to send my original Corbin Gunfighter in for them to use as a starting point.  Especially if Corbin will recover mine at a discounted rate.

I am also in the midst of some repair work, so a week or two down time isn't going to kill me.  I am going to PM you with my phone number so we can talk about this.

HellFish offered to ship his seat but Corbin wants the whole bike. Thanks for the offer HellFish. Good to talk with you today while at work. Sorry but I got busy around 4pm. We WILL make it happen and maybe SCondon is the answer.

Greg at Corbin has said there is, at Corbin, expressed interest in reviving CB750 seats. I'd bet we're going to need to drop off more than our F's. K owners unite too. MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Looks like an F tank on the top one. If that's the case I'd like to have a K seat on my F. Why does it feel like I'm trying not to swear? Kn'A man, That's so f'd!
