has anything changed on this?

Haven't heard from Greg at Corbin lately. That's the reason for the "send Greg@Corbin.com an email" campaign.

Heads up boys  ;D

I just received an email from Greg at Corbin Seats. Their R & D department is "FINALLY" (as he put it) ready to go. We're working on getting them a bike to use to develop the necessary molds, etc in order to be able to mass produce the Gun Fighter (presumed name) seat for our bikes once again. I have alerted him to the fact that there has been interest in seats for other bikes as well once this project has been completed.

Stay tuned for further details and updates. Hopefully we can make this happen sooner rather than later.

The only issue is getting him a bike (not just a seat) to keep for maybe a month or so to build the seat from. I'm a long way from Hollister, CA. We may need to solicit another volunteer. Not sure yet.

I had it ready to go many months ago.  Then stuffed it way in the back of the garage when it appeared nothing was going to happen.  I now have to move a bunch of stuff to roll it out.

But, my roof is leaking and I need to make arrangements for repair.  That has priority over getting a bike to Hollister.  So, it's going to be next Tuesday before I can think about loading it into the truck for the trip down there. (in between rains)
If speed has now become an issue, then I'll let someone else step in. Otherwise, I'll get to it when I can.

TT,

I'm more concerned about the health issue than anything. That takes priority. Corbin may now be ready but they can wait just as we have.

All,

While I personally don't need a new seat, I understand the plight of all, so here's a thought:

I have a pristine 1978 (2,700mi) not registered (since 1983), not being used. (I'm holding on to it in hopes that someday I can get a title in my name. Previous owner passed away before that got sorted out, so I have no title).

Long story short, I live 1.5 hr from Hollister, and not having the bike for a month or so is no big issue.) Could get it there once the arrangements are made.

So I'll be more than willing to leave it at Corbin. Especially if someone can help me with the paper work (maybe a Calif. titled frame?)

Also, I'd like some assurance the bike won't get damaged.

Cheers.

zpaulr,

Thanks! Hold that thought for the moment. By "help with the paperwork" I'm assuming you mean getting the F titled into your name in California? I can't help with that but I'd suggest a seperate topic on the subject and I'm sure one of our California guys can provide a correct answer. We can't let you go without that title  ;)

Topgun, which F1 thread are you referring to? You're already on this one and if you'd like a seat it's yours once we get the first one made. A phone call and a few dineros oughta handle that.

My intentions are to also get Corbin into a sponsorship role much like APE and provide our members a discount but first thing first. Let's get the model made and go from there.

I just found this thread.  What is the latest?  TT has a bike for a loaner and it has been delivered?  This is interesting to say the least.  I have been wondering what to do with the trunk that I removed from my "F".

Cupcake,

No bike to Corbin yet. That is what we are working on. The process to develop a seat may take 1 month once Corbin gets a bike into their R & D shop with which to model a seat on. The Corbin Gun Fighter seat fits onto our seat cowl which would allow us to retain the trunk. It is a one-up kinda cafe looking direct replacement for our seats. I haven't seen one in person so I can't say with certainty exactly how it mounts but do know it utilizes the current tail piece. There are pictures available on the site for you to take a look at. We'll just have to wait and see if Corbin duplicates the old style Gun Fighter or comes up with a modern version.

Stay tuned. Hopefully we will have another mission accomplished soon.

By the time this project is finished? Spring? I hope to pony up the 4 bills or less for one. My Gorilla tape is good but not cool. I spent 125 this last year for an original seat that just cracked and split soon after i used it. I suppose i could recover the two I have, but I quit.
Look forward to the new seat.

First things first  ;) The hope is to start with the F and go from there. Remember first and foremost, we have to  make it worth their while. Does anyone have a pix of Corbin's K seat they can post? The aim is to get "production" seats back again. They are always willing to do one-off seats for anyone but you gotta get your bike to them. With "production" seats the mold has been made and all you have to do is order one. This is what we're attempting to facilitate.

K's MUST happen if they are gonna do F's.

More potential $$$ due to more numbers.

Shhh!  If you say that too loud,  F bikers will never see it happen.  What should be happening is designing a prototype that uses the same molded pan but can be fit on a K or F with either some trimming or augmentation.  The foam and covering would be particular to the model.  That would make some money for Corbin.

We had a light rain and no roof leaks!  I'm thinking about set up the sprinklers on the roof to test it better.
The forecast is no rain for the next week.  So, I can probably haul my F down to Hollister mid to late week.

I'll call them up on Monday to iron out arrangements.

Great news on many fronts there TT.

I asked Greg (Corbin) in an email I sent yesterday about the possibilities of getting some pictures of the process so we could post a "mini-documentary". Hopefully that might happen too. I'm looking forward to his reply. I haven't seriously brought up anything pertaining to seats for other models yet. I know you have other bikes too. Perhaps you might be able to gauge their interest in your face to face meeting also. We have inquiring minds that want to know  ;) First things first however.

I'm envious! I'd love to see what Corbin is all about. Can't wait to hear back with a report once you're able to make it happen.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

heres mcriders gunfighter and lady, i couldnt find the pic of gunfighter for cb750 but hers one of a gl1000 so u can get the idea of gunfighter vs gunfighter and lady. and lastly if you hadnt seen a corbin f gunfighter i through one in there. but for corbin k would be a good idea for numbers (k and f dont hate me ;D). the gunfighter is a nice looking cafe seat that would be comfortable. A good idea on the k at least idk on f would be to make mounting points of 69-76 and 77-78 seats.

I had Corbin make my: "Gunfighter and Lady" back in 1994 when  they were still doing custom one-offs. Had to send it back twice to get it right.  They told me they would never do another one.  Times can change, but that's what they said.

I love the final product, used it for a few years before parking the bike and will use it on the project in the picture.  However, Customer Service on this and other dealings with Corbin has been less than acceptable.   :(  Again, times may have changed.

In the future I would give others a try, like Sargents, etc.
