With a query, I found out that Corbin has the first parts out of the mold and are now designing the cover pattern.
Probably another week to go...-ish.

Excellent news TT. Just glad you're at the helm.

PS you have a bug in your eye  ;D

Mr Breeze has a Corbin seat for his K that that he took in and did a one-off. It looks quite a bit different than the king/queen seats we have seen. It's a two-up but sportier looking. That's something they could think about too.

Does anyone know what the installation process for one of these seats is? Also, I can't tell from the photos how much lower you sit on the gunfighter vs. the stock seat. I have a carpy seat w/ a few layers of yoga mat foam on one of my bikes and it's incredibly comfy and handles great(haven't done more than about 150 mile days on it yet though). My other bike has the stock seat and it feels like I'm sitting way up on top. Handling suffers and wind is much more of a factor. I plan on using the Corbin seat on my "stock" 77 cb750f w/ a small fairing and low rise bars for extensive touring this summer. Does anyone have any experience riding these?
p.s. Drove to Hollister to pick up an old VW for a buddy of mine yesterday. Somehow the conversation kept drifting to motorcycles. :)

Mr Breeze or MCRider?

To answer fatmatt's questions, the install should be same as stock. If not then Corbin will have deviated from their traditional game plan. The Corbin GF section is usually 1+ inches lower than stock. The passenger section on my seat above is at stock level. However the front is likely as wide as stock. Width preserves comfort, IMO. But it still makes you have to skootch one way or the other to get a foot down. No big deal. Having the backstop to your tailbone is also a positive comfort issue IMO. The foam quality is often better than stock, so the decrease in thickness is alleviated. I had my Corbin on Phaedrus I for 5,000+ miles and on my HawkGT for 10,000+ miles. Both with low bars and a small windscreen. The material in the seating area is a "waffle" texture, which helps to massage the butt and delay soreness. Very comfy.

Yeah, those are the 2 I've seen pictures of.

MC, is your's considered the king/queen or does it go by another name perhaps?

Sounds like it's nearing time for Corbin to start K seats! We'll have to see the final results on the new F seat. Hopefully it's going to sell well for Corbin which will give them the incentive to press on with our other models.

Matt, Matt, Matt, as a SOHC4 representative you were supposed to drop by Corbin for the tour. Bad timing on your days  ;)

Mine is the GunFighter and Lady. Note the Gunfighter style bucket seat. Mr. Breeze's is likely to be called that as well, just a different style.

I don't know what the King and Queen would be other than more stuffing front and rear, with the rear higher yet than stock. More like the 70s style K & Q chopper seats, maybe with a high backrest?

Thanks for the info mc. The reason I asked about install is because I was wondering if this will be a complete bolt on item or if it just replaces the upholstery and requires disassembly of the original seat.

They built mine on my seatpan, so all hinges and latch worked as stock.

Corbin needed a bike, to make a seat pan that replaces the original.  This was stated in prior posts within this thread, I believe.
They told me they wanted an off the shelf item that fit every Cb750F frame that has not been damaged in a crash.

What is not clear, is their treatment of the cowl area, and whether that is replaced or transferred.

Corbin can make just about any seat if you bring the seat pan and bike to them.  They do this routinely.  They want to be able to ship throughout the country, without having the customer bike and original parts on the manufacturing site.  They are using my bike to create a fiberglass (I think) mold for repeated casting of the replacement seat pan.

We'll see next week, I suppose.  They said I could come pick up the bike.  But, I'm not doing that in the rain.  So, a break in the weather is needed, for me.

Cheers,

Great news TT, I can't wait to read your impressions of the new seat.

Will you be mentioning the interest in seats for the 750K bikes?

Thanks.

I will mention it.  But, I have no 750K bikes to loan them.  I DO have 550s.  ;D

TT,

I'm hoping you will swap out a 550 for your 750 when you go! We can't let them off that easy  ;). Now that TT will be taking care of the 750F and a 550, one of you guys will need to provide the next model as he has suggested.

I'm also hoping you'll get to meet Mark and take the tour and provide some pictures. I'm hoping to bring them on board as a "sponsor" of perhaps the new "World Tour" section. Maybe they'd like the title "Corbin - Official Sponsor of the SOHC4.com World Tour" or "Corbin - Official Sponsor of SOHC4.net" or "Corbin - Official Seats of SOHC4.net" etc

I called Corbin this morning, production saddles probably won't be ready for a couple months yet. To clarify on the cowl issue, all Corbin seats are designed to be direct bolt on replacements w/ all parts included except for maybe the cowl piece on the cb750f, the tech wasn't real sure. Hope that clears things up for everybody! ;) Sure wish my stupid buddy could've been buying his stupid Rabbit on a day they were open, I would've loved to go spy on you're new seat!

I might be interested in a seat when they are ready.  Are they still going to be around $380?

Looks like a Christmas R&D shutdown will put the first glimpse of the new seat into January.

THAT'S gonna hurt the Christmas sales figures.   ;D

Engineers have been looking for bugs in their designs for many years.  They are sometimes hard to see.  But, you just have to keep looking.

Some bugs just catch your eye sooner than others.
