What are the differences?  I guess I've always just assumed that they were by looking at pictures.  Never had an F1 tank to look at in person.

If you are wondering if a F2 tank will fit an F1, or vice versa, the answer is yes.  As noted in another thread, the petcocks have different fittings, but are in the same place.

The petcocks are different. They are not interchageable as they use a  different thread on the tank. The F1 uses the bigger thread.

That's the only difference that I'm aware of, apart from paint schemes and badges etc, the threaded "spiggot" for the petcock is a larger O/D on the F0/F1 than the F2/F3. Which reminds me, I must return the F2 petcock to Clyde that I borrowed 2 years ago, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I have what looks like an F2 tank, but I suppose it could be the decals? I want to put F1 decals back on; any advice on safe removal of existing decals, without damaging the paint?

Mick,
I would, but I think it would cost more via a professional than the bike is worth!  ;)

Forget about it Jimmy, it won't happen mate, if the decals have been clear coated, they won't come off without damaging the paint, and even if it hasn't been clearcoated, the decals will have "cured" onto the paint and will be brittle, and won't peeloff. There are products out there designed for removing labels etc, but I doubt if anything will get them off without buggering your paint.  Anyway, just like the bike itself,F2 decals look better than F1, in my most humble opinion....................... ;D
