made a baseball bat

i know i said i wasn't going to play with wood anymore but:
bought a wood lathe for $100 and started to play with it
made a small baseball bat
and now my mind is thinking legs for a table or stool
egad, what have i created

What kind of wood did you use?  Did you do it with the grain in the right direction?  Pictures?

You are going to have a great time. Wood turning "freehand" style is an artist's pursuit, plus wood has a life of it's own, an organic structure with strengths/weaknesses/flaws.

Don't go the maple route!! Aluminum would be better but that's definitely heresy. Ash is the only Louisville Slugger way to go.

just used scrap pine for now
got a friend who say's he can get me some ash
