73' CB750 in Socal

Hey everyone,

Thought I might have registered here wayyy back when I got this bike.. Maybe not.  Anyhow purchased it about four years ago while still in school in Michigan.  Little family feud over the bike and finally bought out my brothers interest in it and shipped it here to San Diego where I now reside.

Rebuilt the carbs and got it running once and then it sat while we were in a stalemate on the bike.  Needs to be gone through but a solid bike overall.  Planning just to refresh everything and go through it and make it as nice as it deserves to be.  Lots of sentimental value with this bike.  Hasn't been ridden since 1985 and that was by the previous owner.  I just love this thing, I kinda want to leave the way it is with subtle upgrades and clean it up.  

Time to research research research on this thing, I've built cars but never bikes.  I'm exited.

Hey, nice looking bike.  Mine was way worse off than that when I bought it, years ago.

If you have decent automotive skills, lots of it will transfer to working on bikes.

Doesn't look like you have front brakes tho  :o

Yeah no brakes, toying with the thought of doing dual discs up front. 

Any advice on if its worth it?

I'm planning on doing a dual brake conversion myself but I have a K0 and the earlier bikes are a bit harder to convert.  From what I understand the K3-K6 bikes are easy to convert and there seems to be little downside unless you're concerned about fractional increases to the unsprung weight of the lower front end which can affect steering performance.  Are you the canyon-carver type or plan on running on a track?

Prob more of a canyon carver.  Just figured more woah for my go, I just wanted a project and hadn't done a bike yet.  Honestly, I'm not too eager to ride in here in Socal because drivers are mental.  So Sunday cruises and some mountain runs sometimes. 

I'm in the process of cleaning/rebuilding the carbs, then its clean the tank, it was cleaned and sealed in 07' but has old fuel in it now.  Then on to the ignition and suspension and brakes.  Needs new fork seals, and a front caliper but wasnt sure if an entire fork swap from was a better option or rebuilding and fitting calipers on this one.
