Help before I purchase these parts
« on: May 13, 2010, 10:49:57 AM »
1974 CB750 K4 here

Front Fork Springs - Are these the the correct ones and can I shorten these? Whats that white tube there? http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp;jsessionid=H0U1TYOAU53BXLA0WTISM4VMDK0OWIV0?store=&skuId=58321&mmy=

Chain
I examined mine last night and am buying a new front and rear sprockets from partsnmore.com (already on order). Can you please help with the chain selection? My old one was a standard chain with a rivet link. There were 99 links counted + 1 for the main link.

Please point me to the exact chains/size I have to buy both in Standard or O-ring versions. Would XDL Diamond be a good choice?

Many thanks in advance.

I'm just not sure of the size. And is there other kind other than rivet type? Any help?

ill take a whack at it.first, not sure what the white thing with the springs is,however a lot of guys on here like those springs.second, that chain while probably a good one seems mighty expensive, maybe its my cheap ass but i would look elsewhere for a chain.

I just put Progressive fork springs on my 750K2, looks like the same part number the parts counter set me up with. The white tube is a piece of PVC pipe that is used as a spacer, and isn't nearly that long. The springs and tubes in the picture is a generic photo used with several models. You don't want to shorten a progressive spring. The spacer may need shortening though depending on the amount of stiffness you want in the ride. I cut my spacers down a couple of times to adjust the re-bound and put in fresh 10W fork oil for softer dampening. Still thinking about taking the spacer out all together. I put Progressives on my Concours, and left out the stock spacer per their instructions, and it made for a nice ride.

I would not pay $125 for a chain, I"ve seen them for half that price.
