CB500 .50 Pistons?
« on: October 20, 2010, 01:14:06 AM »
So I scored a Rocky .050mm overbore piston and ring kit for my 71 500 for $80. Now what? I assume the head gasket will need some trimming but will I need sleeves also? How about the head? Anything machining there?  Yea, new at this. Any help would be much appreciated.

the head gasket will be ok,so will the head ,you now need to get the barrel rebored to suit the new pistons, when you get the barrel back itll look really clean in the bore, but clean it again.have a look at the faq section here and download the workshop manual, you might be buying tools next as well.dont use af/sae tools in place of proper metric ones.

Thanks for the info. All set as far as tools. Have never done a complete rebuid. Figured an older bike is a good place to start. Again, thanks for the help.
