Rear turn signal ground wires (CB500)
« on: May 16, 2010, 05:53:02 PM »
My CB500 came without a grab rail or rear turn signals. I've sourced both and there's what appears to be a ground wire on the little tab where the turn signals mount. Unfortunately, someone just snipped the wire off. There's enough left to splice in or add a "hoop" connector, but where does the wire go?

I don't see anything obvious in the wiring harness. Maybe a "hoop" connector behind the bolt that attaches the grab rail to the fender?

I'm not familiar with the CB500, but your rear turn signals sound to have very similar wiring to what is on my CB350F.  On mine there is a ground wire connection (green wire) that comes from each side and plugs into the wiring harness under the seat where the other wires for the turn signal lamps plug.  Green was the color used for the ground circuit.

Some clarification: The grab bar is actually from a CB550 and I had to drill out the mounting holes slightly to fit the CB500 signals.

That said, here's a pic of what I'm calling the ground wires. They're definitely black. I see the green ground wires under the seat/above the fender. Should I just splice in some longer wire and a couple of bullet connectors and plug them in there?
