Big bore kits
« on: May 15, 2010, 03:40:44 PM »
Good day,

Just curious, but have any of you kids had a chance to play with a big bore kit? If so, what are your experiences and comments?

Thanks
Steve

I'm speaking out of school here as I'm a month or more away from firing up my 836cc motor.  However, I will say that Wiseco, the manufacturer of the 836cc kit I own, makes quality products and I wouldn't be concerned on that front.

More broadly speaking on the topic of adding capacity to an engine, its one of the ways you can make more horsepower and torque. All things being equal, increasing displacement increases the work the engine is capable of.  Should you choose to go the 836cc route, I would recommend Mike Rieck's help with porting -- as the stock heads don't flow sufficiently well to make good use of the added cubes.
Take care,
David

Great power boost. Stay away from some of the e-bay stuff as you can't get rings, etc for them.

I found a box.......from back in the day,in it was 79 CB650 NOS cylinder head,CB750K cylinder head,my CB 550 head I was running w/Yosh 553 kit,and this cylinder with BIG pistons...70 mm = 970cc kit!!! ;D ;D ;D

I thought they looked a little large!

You can see where they would grind out ARIAS or most of it.

Yeah,think God for silicone.It needs a MR cylinder! ;D
