Topic: Fuel petcock rebuild???

hey guys... i just got a 1981 CB900f SuperSport and it has a leaky petcock... it is rivited shut... and i was wondering if anyone has ever drilled them out and rebuilt one of these?
And no... it is not leaking from the threads or the tank... it is leaking from the around the valve.

i tried to post this ? on cb900f.com but i kept getting an error message...

i drilled it out... they are not rivits... they are posts that have been piened (?) over. the gasket is a round piece with 4 holes in it...

i found a prt number for a "similer" honda part... i just dont know if it will work... 16953-283-000. and of course no-one has one in stock so i can compare.

Good luck. They are NLA i think, and nobody makes a rebuild kit for those. I ended up getting a used one that worked. I think some have had luck adapting a universal petcock on those bikes.

What part worked?  Where did you get it?  How much was it?  How much modification was required?  Because I'm sure there are lots of applications for it.

I got mine from Service Honda, but Cycle Recycle has them, too.
