Pulling out Starter for weight reduction (or something)

My starter clutch went out...no problem really...kickstart is reliable enough, so I figure I can pull the starter since it's not being used, but what do I plug the whole with?

If you intend to build that bike into a racer, then ditching the starter motor, battery, main wiring harness, lights, blinkers, alternator, OEM pipes, airbox, gauges, etc etc, will be of great benefit, but just removing your starter motor on a roadbike because your starter clutch has crapped out, is a bit silly. The starter clutch isn't hard to repair anyway, or expensive. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Really?  I thought it's a real pain, requiring special pulley tools and such (anyone in socal want to show me how easy?).  Not a big priority right now, but definitely on the list.

If its a 750 takes 2 hours with the parts to hand if its a 500/550 takes 16 hours (engine out!)
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

If its a 750 takes 2 hours with the parts to hand if its a 500/550 takes 16 hours (engine out!)

Well lucky me....I am, and always have been, a 550 owner.  Maybe it's time to upgrade.

Well lucky me....I am, and always have been, a 550 owner.  Maybe it's time to upgrade.

It's a trade-off.  With the 550, you can do all the top end work with the engine in the frame.  With the 750, engine has to come out just to remove the valve cover.

I take it all back, sell that poorly designed sucker and buy a 750 mate, what a pain! Sure you can't do a 750 top end rebuild without removing the engine, but I'd prefer to rebuild an engine on my nice clean bench anyway, (If you've ever done one with the engine in the frame you'll know why........) so not much of a compromise, in my feeble mind?
