I would LOVE to try that engine out. Alas... No "American" motorcycle company will put that into a bike as there "is no market" for am American Sports Bike. Talk about the biggest load of manure I've ever hear come out of a dealer's mouth...

from a mechanics standpoint..that pic looks an awful lot like a small block checvy with 2 cylinders cut off.  Should be reliable.

How about 4 cylinders chopped off?

I've heard that engineers were working on a design like that, it is kinda like combining the best parts of a gas motor and a diesel motor.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

Didn't someone recently make a V4 out of two CB350's?

Yep.  It was actually a V8.

It's sad to think that Motus will probably not sell all that well even with all that wicked engineering.

Not that I want to cause trouble, but if a GL1000 isn't a proper "SOHC-4", and all discussion regarding one is moved to the "other bikes" area, what makes you think this thread belongs here? ;D ;D ;D

Harley didn't try hard enough with Buell.  But you could argue E. Buell just kept things quirky enough that the mainstream wasn't interested.   The economy didn't help either.

Cam shaft is in the middle of the engine so valve lifters are required.
Not so "up to date" when you see all other engines with over head cams.
Sheesh!

Harley had nothing to do with Buell in the early years.  Only after Buell had some sales success did Harley join in financially.

there "is no market" for an American Sports Bike.

This is true if you look at it like this;

there "is no market" for an American Sports Bike that can't win a race.

2009 Superbike Champion rode a Buell. THEN they killed the company.

Sorry. I'm just bitter. I have been in love with the Buells since they came out. The 1125 was such a sweet bike. I REALLY wanted one. Now I may never get my chance... Oh well. Back to my SOHC4's.

Sheesh!

It is an older engine technology, but it can be applied efficiently.  Just look at the racing success of the Corvette C5- and C6-Rs.

KB02, you do realize it was ridiculous that they even let those bikes into that class right?  They had better have won.  You think they would've let Hyosung enter a liter-size+ twin into the field?  Exactly.

It was too little too late however.
