cb 550 exhaust compatibility
« on: February 11, 2006, 06:07:53 AM »
There's a guy on ebay selling a 4-1 exhaust with a Yoshimura slip-on from a '76 CB 550.  Does anyone know if it would fit a '78 CB 550 K?  I looked on bikebandit (his idea) but had no luck.

Thanks in advance,

Stattz

I love my 4 into 4 on my '78 550. It is what makes the bike look so special going down the road. Just my 2 cents.

The engines were the same.  Unless the frame was changed, which is doubtfull, they should fit perfectly.

The engine exhaust port interface was the same for all stock CB500s and 550s.  The muffler mounting did vary between years and F/K boundaries.  But, if the muffler isn't stock, custom brackets are needed anyway.
