Honda 450 Keihins.. on a car..!!
« on: May 28, 2010, 09:28:48 PM »
Guy brings me a very well built manifold, brackets and diecast aircleaner backing plate.. for a 4 cylinder car..

Damned if they are not CB450 CV carbs,  :o   :o

And the rest is so well built, I mean looks factory.. ???

Later on , a mek-an-ick buddy stops by and I show him, ..and he figures they are off an 81 or 82 Accord.... go figure..

So now I am thinking.. maybe they could be bigger bore hi-po carbs for a 450..??

 Anyone seen these..?

honda made a little parcel van in the 70s,with roller bearing crank and four carbs, maybe its from one?i think it was a 900cc air cooled thing that revved like a bike to 10,000.

My 1966 Honda S600 had 4 CV carbs standard Frank, it had (well has, as it's still in the family) a 600cc DOHC slant 4 engine with one CV carb per cylinder, an "extractor" style exhaust system, and chain drive from the differential which sits under the seats, to the rear wheels, giving it 4 wheel independant suspension. Great little car, it'd do 100 MPH and handled like it was on rails! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Accords and preludes did indeed come with CV's at one time.

Once again you guys still do not understand how Honda Motors works.  Instead of the standard philosphy of developing new technology for automobiles first and then have to branch out to motorcycles.  Honda's philosphy is Develop it for our motorcycles first and then use it for our cars.  Look at the CBX.  A few years after the CBX ceased production Honda started selling 6 cylinder Cars in the American Market.  If it works on our motorcycles it will definitely work on our cars.  Why do you think you see so many people who own Honda motorcycles own Honda cars.

My 1966 Honda S600 ...Great little car, it'd do 100 MPH and handled like it was on rails! ;D

Yes, but I understand you had to back-up out of underground parking garages, as it didn't have enough torque to go up some steep inclines in first.  (Reverse is usually a lower gearing.)

Well I lived in a small country town when I owned the little Honda back in the mid 1970's mate, so I'd never seen an underground car park, and it probably hadn't either! Could be true, but from memory, it had a pretty low first gear, and accellerated pretty hard, so I doubt it, sounds a bit "urban mythy" to me, the little Honda twin cylinder cars maybe, but the S600 was pretty good. Cheers, Terry. ;D
