72 Honda 350 Headlight Casing HELP:)
« on: May 18, 2010, 08:27:48 AM »
Hey everyone,

I am trying to restore my 1972 Honda CL350 and I have a cracked headlight casing. I have looked around town and it seems that nobody makes a replica of it and it seems that that is the first (maybe second) thing to break when getting in an accident so the junk yards are no help either. Looked around online (including David Silver's site in the UK) and this is a discontinued part.

Anyone know where I should look next? Also, is there a case from a different year that would fit on my 72?

Thanks in advance!
Rob

First thing you should go here:

http://www.nielsens.com/default.asp

Go to 'Shopping', then use the dropdown menu to 'OEM Parts Finder'

From there, follow the prompts and find the fiche listings for your '72, and get a part number and diagram for your headlight shell. Then, compare with the same parts diagram under the years 1971, 1973, 1974, etc etc. You will find that quite often the same part that was used on the CL350 were used again year after year, and also on other Honda models year after year as well.

After you have figured out what range of years and models used that headlight, go on Ebay, or post a 'want' on this site. I would look for a complete headlight, thats usually how you find them.

it's the same part number as all of these...

1972 Honda CB175K6
1972 Honda CB350F
1972 Honda CB350K4
1972 Honda CL350K4
1973 Honda CB175K7
1973 Honda CB350G
1973 Honda CL350K5
1974 Honda CB200
1974 Honda CB350F1
1974 Honda CL200
1974 Honda CL450K6
1975 Honda CB200T
1976 Honda CB200T
1976 Honda CJ360T
1977 Honda CJ360T

go on bikebandit, look up what you need, copy the part number into the search at the top of the webpage, then it'll give you a page with a box that has a spot to click "fits machines"... it will give you a full listing of any other bikes it was on, by that part number.

for your bike, this is the lookup... http://www.bikebandit.com/search-products?q=3878058+001&ch=0&sc=0&v=0

My sources indicate that part number is NLA.
I tried to order one, but couldn't get it.
Unless some dealer has one stashed somewhere, it's not in the "network"........

Aye, she is toast for getting a brand new one from Honda. But, Drew can find a minty used one quite easily based on the wide model usage of this headlight. Plus, the odd NOS bucket/ring etc does show up on Ebay from time to time if he must go the New route.

Oh yeah, feebay has them all over the place. The earlier metal ones are the harder ones to find.
