Help with ebay choices
« on: May 18, 2010, 06:30:30 AM »
I'm looking into getting new jugs or helicoiling a stripped thread hole on my jugs. I'm going to get the jugs bored and honed with some 61mm pistons, so I'd rather not throw money into a set of jugs that were garbage to start with, but ebay is a mine field. Here's one link I was looking at, thoughs? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360255207974&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en

What is wrong with the helicoil..? Some change their threads to them, to increase reliability..

I don't have any of the helicoil stuff yet. I suppose I'll want it in the future, but if this is going to be the only thing I need it for I figure I can get jugs pretty cheap and avoid it.

I'd either buy a heilcoil kit (which I did) or have the guy doing the boring to do that also. I can't imagine he'd charge you more than say $25. You could probably get a kit for $25 and you'd be able to use it multiple times.
