Help identifying a master cylinder
« on: May 18, 2010, 08:54:57 am »
Hello:
I'll be wanting to use this master cylinder on my project. Having been bot from salvage 10+ years ago, and the identity wasn't known then, its still not known. I'll need to get some parts for it.

Any guesses?

I'm no expert but that might be an old Yamaha MC. Anything telling on the thing itself? Any year or manufacturer's stamps?

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

In the 2nd picture, in the lower left bulbous region, there is a "5/8", a 6, S and a 4 spaced apart.

Dat's all.

I second the new master cylinder route, I didn't trust my rebuild, so I bought a new m c, and I should have off the bat, I hosed one rebuild kit (long story), bought a second, still didn't like the rebuild (leaky, probably worn m c) and the new one cost me 59.00.... the two kits combined were more...

If you'll notice on the 3rd picture, the MC is nice and small. The OEM, because my bars are small, sticks into the face of the tach and is big and clunky looking.

But i appreciate your advice and would consider a smallish new one for sure.
