Hey All. Attached is a pic of my crappy rear brake spring. Any thoughts on where to get a new one. Bike Bandit is out of them. Or is it worth it to just buy a replacement from Home Depot

That is the spring for the rear brake light switch, not the brake itself. Caan't imagine its bad. What's the problem you're having?

Ohhh. That makes way more sense. No problem really, just thought it was time to replace the old one

Just take a wire wheel or Dremel to it and it will look fine. I think there is supposed to be a plastic nut on the threads of the switch under the area where it is held to the frame. At least I have in on my 750's. If you need a pic let me know...

The switch doesn't have a jam nut under the bracket, unless it was placed there afterwards. As in your picture, there is a plastic nut on the switch that has a skirt on it which presses thru the bracket, and the hex lays on top of the bracket. This allows one to hold the switch and rotate the nut with its skirt to adjust the switch.

My repro from Yamiya actually has a knurled thumbwheel rather than a hex.


While we're at it, this is the brake pedal return spring which is mounted on the brake pedal pivot on the inboard side of the frame:

Thanks. At first I thought he had the little skirt, but looking agin it appears to be just the (a) nut. Which will work, but the skirt makes it more stable. The skirt tends to break off if the switch has been manhandled.
