That £@%! Spring!
« on: February 08, 2006, 05:06:54 AM »
Here's a pic of my '75 CB400F nearing completion, except for this.....

referring to the footbrake return spring - I can see the large "hook" that fits around the frame downtube, just aft of the footbrake shaft, but where the h*ll is the smaller (I assume) hook that provides spring resistance to return the footbrake pedal to it's "off" position supposed to fix?

What with the swing arm, brake control rod getting nto the act, and the fact that even with sunlight in the garage, it's near impossible for me to spot the lug (if there _is_ a lug) that the smaller hook fits into.  Looks as if I'll have to remove the rear wheel and crawl (cautiously) under the 'bike to find the anchor point - just hoping someone can understand this drivel and point me in the right location?

Thanks Guys!

I think it uses the pivot arm for the brake rod to get the return action, I'll check when I get home from work.

Thanks Bifta - I'd be a lot happier when I can stop!

Yes big loop attaches to the frame and the small one is attached to the pivot arm for the brake rod.
