1982 DOHC 750 sport - harsh engine vibration?
« on: May 24, 2010, 03:06:38 AM »
Hi All.

Took this out today for the first time. Has a very harsh vibration thru' bars and tank. Sides of the tank really buzz.

I have no experience with these beasts but can't imagine this being anything like 'normal' vibration.

Are there any experienced souls out there who could tell me what is 'normal', or what may be the cause of these vibes?

Thanks.

Sure its the engine and not a loose nut somewhere. The dohc 750 I rode was pretty smooth

Thanks BlindJoe.

Probably the only loose nut is the one on the seat holding the bars.  ;D

It may be a loose engine mount but is definitely engine related. My hands and the insides of my thighs against the tank get a ferocious massage once over 4000rpm.

.... hmmmm ... maybe I should sit further up the tank - might take my mind off things ... but it's hard to see where one is going when one goes cross-eyed ...  :P :o ::) :-* ::)

There's a DOHC Custom forum (not a patch on this forum) where I found 'some' of the early '80's models used rubber isolation mounts. Unfortunately most of the discussions were so incoherent or jargon-cryptic I could deduce nothing further.

I'll start spannering again when my Black Dogs leave me alone.

Cheers.
