i was able to get home from sitting with my wife for a few hours to water the garden and pick some veggies, feed andwater the animals and let the dog out for a while. virginia ended up back in the hospital earlier than expected when her blood count dropped a bunch. surgery is still sceduled for wedensday.

i have a little spare time while the wife is in surgery so i thought i'd update you folks. it's looking like the small mass in the colon is all there was this time (removed 14 lymph nodes and did a total hysterectomy last time) so thats a good thing. the docs have told us that they'll do everything they can to avoid having to put in a ileostomy bag but when theyre removing the entire colon it is a very real possibility. if thats all the complications she has after this cancer surgery i'll be thankful as when she had the colon surgery in 2004 she ended up being in the hospital for nearly 4 months because of complications including a fustula (leaking from the inside) hernias and a REALLY bad staph infection that caused an abscess on her spine causing permanent nerve damage. i'm doing my best to stay healthy because virginia is going to need me healthy and alert for the next several months between recovery then chemo.

ok, Virginia has just come out of surgery and my biggest worry, her liver, was totally clear! and they were able to re-connect intestine to rectum so despite her entire colon being removed there will be no iliostomy bag. there were several gallstones so he also removed her galbladder. so, it looks pretty good all in all. there were a couple of lymph glands that were a touch lumpy so she'll be going through more chemo than originally anticipated but the doc isnt worried at all.

Thanks for sharing that good news with us Jeff, it's nice that so many things were so favorable for Virginia today.  May the trend continue.
I'll wish you good health too, it's not always easy getting back into top form but we're all with you adding our .02 to the mix if you want to hear it.
Here's to the both of you.
Cheers.

Thanks for the update.  Things are sounding cautiously good.  Make this a trend for at least a while (good news) :)

it's looking like she may have to go back under the knife. it's looking like an internal suture might have loosesned. they have her down in cat scan now. i've slept at the hospital nightly since wedensday night.

Man Jeff, I clearly meant to keep up with what was going on with your family and James (Droopy and family). Seems like I've let somethings slip by me. I sure hope they get that leaking problem taken care of. You all have been through so much and I REALLY feel for you and Virginia. You all have been in my Prayers. Please let me know if there is ANYTHING I could do Brother! Give Virginia my Best. ;)

Hey, I was messaging with him back and forth a little on Facebook, and asked if there was anything I could share here.

he said "please just let folks know our lives are really complicated right now. Enough so that I found the broken cam tower bolt more than 3 weeks ago on the bike and I havent even had time to lift the tarp on the thing, let alone work on or ride."
...so that's our latest update.  I hope everything starts going better for them.
