Forks By Frank, if he's still in business.

I agree, Forks by Frank are great, but I don't know that they are in business anymore, I haven't seen anything new from them in quite a while.  I got mine off of ebay for about $95 if I remember, it has been a while.  However, I had some trouble finding ones for the 550, so I have 10" extended tubes on my 550 with the lowers from a 750.  The tube diameter is essentially the same so that is no problem, but you will need to change out your breaking system.  For me it worked out fine, I now have the dual disks on the front of my 550 and the break pads are cheaper and easier to find.  you will need to put your lower legs on the tubes from the ones on ebay most likely, but it is a fairly easy job.  the other thing you will need to do is if you are going to use the same guts from inside (this is what I did), you will need to take up the extra space with some kind of material or your springs will be to short.  The company I bought mine from recommended plastic PVC pipe, but that sounded kind of cheap and I was worried about stability and my front end collapsing, so I used a fairly heavy gauge copper piping that fits inside the tube and wont allow the spring to slip inside the copper tube.  It was about $15 for what I got at Lowes to fill a 10" void.  Good luck. I wish I could remember the name of the company, they were very helpfull with instalation as well.  I would just search ebay for "extended fork tubes for cb 550 or 750" when I did it about 2 years ago there were several.

I have a set of 5 or 6 overs, but the chrome is pretty rough.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.
