Not sure what i did to it but i have had it wrapped up most of the week onlyt removing the bandage when i went to sleep so i didnt loose the retaining clips for it and to restore any lost circulation through the limb. but yea im looking forward to breaking in that new rear tire and getting some miles on it and the new plugs and oil change..

Project Shadow is home...put off installing the plugs and wires for now since one wire is still backordered so thats gonna wait till i can afford to add a K&N filter as well as a carb sync as well as upgrading the jets in the carbs (sort of a custom jet kit...)

finally some new pics now that the bike is free from the shop..it still needs a bit of a wash but thats a minor thing...

Yea i still plan on painting it blitz black. Going to see if i can have it painted to match the Interceptor paint scheme as seen on the Red/white and Blue white bikes..you can sorta see the pattern on the white and blue and yellow bike in the bottom pic of my last post..im actually going to do two sets of bodywork..one completely black and one in that pattern..the only parts that are changing between the two looks are the tank. side panels and tail section..the upper and lower fairings will remain the same in both set ups..

all  i gotta say now is wow...the handling is so different now thanx to the heavier oil and the new tire...just gotta get used to it..and now the collection grows by one more bike lol

A bit of an update...I now own 3 Interceptors....the white and blue interceptor shown in an earlier pic is mine as well now..i traded my Kawasaki GPz back to my roomate for it. He wanted a bike to build  bobber out of so the Kawi was perfect for that. So now the new bike has been dubbed Project Iceman...It will recieve the full fairing kit from Airtech along with modern signal lights like Shadow..but they will be relocated back on the fairings like  a moderin bike on iceman. When i start work on that bike i will have a topic for it.

Well im bringing this back up due to having updates. Project Iceman has now become Project Interceptor. It will be painted matte or Blitz Black...the idea of having an all black Interceptor was too good to pass up...as for Shadow it will soon be getting some used Kerker mufflers as well as some changes in appearance in the form i will be using the Airtech fairings on it instead and it will retain its current red color..Both Interceptors will be getting CBR 600 wheels.

Here is the thread that inspired this new direction on both bikes...I will be fitting both the same headlight shown in it and the VF1000F side panels to Shadow and probably just the same headlight onto Project Interceptor.

Project Update....Seems Shadow is going to have even more in common with the bike detailed in the VFRworld thread. Im picking up a 1KR front end in about two weeks once i get back from Regina. Looking forward to having those parts in my hands. Though they may wind up shipped right back out soon after to get the forks rebuilt with new springs and Gold Valve emulators as well as having the air crossover eliminated and preload caps installed combined with the TRAC anti dive being disabled due to the Emulators being used. After thats all done i will also be getting a CBR 900RR or VFR 800 rear shock modified to mount on the bike. But as stated before the VF will also be getting a pair of CBR600 F2 wheels to go with the new front end. Chances are the bike itself will stay together till i have every single part needed to do the suspension work on hand but once they are all here...look out the VF is going to transform....I have also finally figured out what color the bike was painted. Its a very close match to the Deep Garnet red on my Laser so im suspecting it is more then likely lighter shade of Garnet red if there is such a color. Anyways...on to the pics of the front end im picking up...

Update: The 1kr front end didnt happen. Wound up parking shadow for awhile while i sorted out if i was going to keep riding or not. I have gotten the bike back on the road recently after completing the rattle can paint job i did on it to make it all one color after finding a spare usable fuel tank to replace the rotted one. Here is a cell phone pic of the bike for now till i can get some batteries for my camera to take some better shots.

Yea..i needed to just take a step back and review what was going on around me. Now im slowly getting back to how i was back in high school when i had a CBR 900 and that was riding the thing pretty much every chance i got. I gotta get a large backpack one of these days so i can start riding to work again and carry the stuff i normally carry to a shift. The courier bag i have now is starting to get badly worn out and stress tears are starting to form around the handles...Def do not need to have that come flyin off of my back at speed! lol

My old girlfriend had a 500. Your arm needs to be broken in 4 strategic locations to do a valve adjustment without pulling the engine. And if you have'nt yet, look into a top oiling kit. Seems the hot ticket on interceptors/magna's is running braided steel lines to the head to increase oiling.

I read in Motorcyclist that early production numbers snapped cams. Seems the milling machines that milled the cam journals could get out of adjustment, resulting in misaligned bores and binding. It was similar to a plunge router, and milled the journals with 4 independent heads from above, not the side like normal, (Honda didn't want those half-moon rubbers on the VC gasket) so you could end up with one journal lower or higher than the others.

Good luck with it! I would love to come across one myself.

There is a few ways to improve the oiling situation. One is fitting larger lines in place of the originals as well as using the original source. Another is larger lines feeding from a sandwich adapter between the block and oil filter.

Both of these methods increase flow. The Adapter adding the benefit of the oil being filtered before it reaches the top end.

Another common method is drilling and tapping a boss that is located on the bottom of the engine block. Then running lines from this point. This method increases both fluid volume and pressure. It is thought by most VF owners that this boss was a left over from the race bikes since the race version with the HRC engines used this source point.

I have another VF750 engine sitting at a buddies place i need to pick up soon. The plan for that engine was to originally just drop it into the VF chassis i have here and build a Street Fighter around it. But the plan has since changed to building a hot motor for my current Interceptor.

Mods will include:

VF700 Pistons for high compression
Megacycle Cams
Port and polishing work
rejetted carbs

Honda shortened the stroke of the VF750 to create the VF700. At the same time they also changed the pistons slightly to bring the compression back up to the same spec as the larger 750. However..with the use of the 700 pistons in the 750 engine the compression goes up to around 11:1. All in all im shooting for getting 100 Hp out of this engine with these mods. The Engine is rated at 86 Hp in stock trim...so it may just be possible.

Spent some cash on the bike today lol. Ordered a new front tire for it to get it ready for the upcoming bike rally, If i have time i may see if my buddy can recover the seat in time for it. Bought a new tank bag and made another insurance payment. Only other thing bike related i did today was order a new sunshield for my HJC helmet.
