Topic: anything i should know about a cb360?

my friend dropped off his cb 360(74) and im going to be changing his head and base gaskets..... do i have to pull the engine to do this? is there anything i need to know before digging in to the engine? common probs you've had?

yeah i think you have to pull the engine, they're pretty straight forward, easy to work on etc., be careful when tightening the points plate back on to the cam shaft, i gave the bolt too much torque and the shaft sheared off...that sucked

74/5 had recalled cam chain tensioners. Threads on it somewhere. Other than that they are a real pos.     Most everyone will tell you.

Cam tensioners as mentioned above.  If the engine serial number has a dimple, or center-punch mark there, it has received the upgrade.

Several of the 'standard' top-end parts (including camchain tensioners) are no longer available ANYwhere.  Good used seems to be the best folks can find.

The cams run in the bare aluminum of the head, and this can trash the whole head if it starves for oil.  However, a zillion other Hondas and other mfg's followed this same philosophy without real troubles, so I tend to not worry about it.

Have fun with the job.  I think the top end can come off without pulling the motor.

Yes   Thats what many think of the 360.  But I love mine.  Been all over the state with it.
Its a blast in the mts.

i took it for a ride today so i could have a before view.... do these things normally vibrate like ( enter colorful metaphor)?  it almost hurt my butt it was virbating so bad..... i know its not tuned up.... do these things need a carb synch?

yikes i tore into it i have the sprocket off and that stupid cluth cable assembly is rediculous..... i have the engine ready to be pulled all mounts and wiring are disconnected
