Not to be the dissenter in the group but I always hated the Pacman games. Maybe it's because in the early eighties my dad had a part time gig with the vending industry and our basement was full of the old table top Ms. Pacman games. I only wish they were still there because today I hear they fetch a pretty penny. ;) ;)

Quite A Neat Job....

.... that Google did!

Couldn't resist giving it a try.  As my score grew in size and I went through screens,
it really did bog down in speed though, got to where it was barely moving.

I felt good, until I clicked on a linked article about the guy who holds the world
record.  He never lost a single man and ate All the dots and energisers
and got all the ghosts every time (1,600 on ghosts).  He cleared 255
screens, then on the 256th screen, that was it..... there were no more.

Score ............ 3,333,000+...... can't remember the exact number.

I have heard that on the final screen, number 256, that the screen splits and
becomes a double screen...... the article I read didn't say anything about that.

It probably runs out of memory like Donkey Kong and freezes up.

They decided to make it permanent! You can play it forever until you beat 255!!!
Ms. Pac-man is still screwed up though.

If....

.... you want a PacMan or MSPacMan that is very, very close to the original
arcade version, you can download these for free.  They are the closest I
have found on the web to the originals..... with a couple of quirky things
added to occasionally make it more difficult....

http://www.jrok.com/games.html

There is also a game called QBert (now PCBert) which was really a pretty
big game in the mid '80's..... it is a lot of fun.

One thing though, you do need to have a text based DOS.... you know....
the old life at the C Prompt type DOS.  I have Windows 98 SE, so that is
no problem for me.  Other new versions of Windows..... I don't know how
that will work for you people.

I know that up to Windows XP you can open a DOS Box if you have to, beyond
that..... Vista, Windows 7.... I don't have a clue.

Enjoy, they are great fun! :D :D
