Kick bang smoke

I recently got my 72 CB500 all together so I put gas in it.  I kick it like 5 times and produces a louder than usual pop form one cylinder then smoke comes out slowly.  I kick it 5 more times and the same thing happens and every once in awhile i get like a half kick and  it just stops from like compression.  It ran good but had an oil leak so I rebuilt it and now its doing this.  It has a Dyna S ignition if that makes any difference.

Sounds like your coils are hooked up in reverse or your 1/4 and 2/3 are mixed up...

Forgive me for lack of technical terms, but I believe the center part of the points electronic ignition can be installed 180 degrees off and cause what you are experiencing. It happened to me when I installed my electronic ignition the first time.
It has been a couple of years since the experience.

That could be.   I remember now after I had them all off going "Hmmm...  I should have numbered these".  I knew that one coil fired the 1-4 and the other did the 2-3 but I wasn't sure which ones, so I stuck them on there and I guess I forgot that I had no clue which ones when where exactly. 

I'm off for a night of partying so I'll have to look into that tomorrow.

The yellow wire is for cyl 2 and 3, the blue one for cyl 1 and 4

Looked at it today and I hooked the blue to 2-3 and yellow to 1-4  thanks guys.

I did the same thing, but caught it while setting the static timing. good luck!

switched the wires and how everything is AOK.  Thank you for clearing this up for me.  Sounds great and best part, NO OIL LEAKS!  :D

Just for a bit of levity Kick bang smoke sounds exactly like what I have to do each morning in order to wake up, get moving and work out all the aches and pains in places I don't even remember having! except I added loads of coffee to the list.
