any alternative to pods?
« on: May 26, 2010, 11:21:47 AM »
my 70 cb750k1 is not breathing.  it has the "900" kit on it as im told.  im learning a bit as i go..as you might guess.  i got the k&n pods but i can hear the pods trying to suck and not getting it when im up to highway speed.  i have trumpets that i can use.  just wondering if anyone has a different setup other than the big box?

The oval-shaped pots are quieter..........I took the pods off of an 836 motor and replaced with a K&N filter in a standard box..........with several extra holes in the bottom.

Someone out there makes (made) a custom 1-piece filter with an aluminum cover.......it would look cool on your bike style.

When I first stated building my bike, I built an air box for it.
Ended up with pods, but may install this beast on another project.
It is a K&N style filter and part of the installation parts for a 1999 Suburban with a 454.
It is a hexagon tube that is made for holding welding rod. Cut holes in the side of it and installed stock rubber boots.
I'm sure thet same design could be used with a much smaller air filter, but it's what was hanging on the wall at the time.
