i am an idiot.

was born that way and come by it honest.

if a guy is going to make his very first post on this board and do it on this thread, then you know he is an idiot.

at 6'4" and 225lbs the most fun i have had on bikes is ones that i could manhandle thru the twisties and beat them into submission.  in town bikes where you never went over 50, but cornered every 3 blocks.

even at my size the funnest bike in town was a '67 T200 Suzuki 2 stroke that was hell off the line.

(traded it in on the 750, it is for sale on ebay now)

i upgraded to a 71' 750.  from the '67 T200 and a '73 CB350 with the wrong carb kits that topped out around 70mph.

i ride by myself.  normally back and forth to my golf course 30 miles away.  shorts, short sleeve shirt, ect.

ya, i got passed by a poker run.  25 peeps on HDs.

here is the thing.  i am doing my own thing.  my own look.  my own speed.  i get passed by 25 peeps of which 15-20 were clones.  they looked alike, the bikes looked alike and for some reason i thought being on a bike by yourself was about individualism.

i swapped out and traded for the 750 in the next week.

drove it to the local bar.  they all liked it cuz of age, not because of brand.  they know i am into the old stuff.

so to recap, i am susecptabel to peer pressure?  yes.  will i buy a HD?  no.  seriously, not worth the money.  i can buy multiple 750's for the price of a HD over 883.

but they guys know now if they pass me without fear for their lives it was because i allowed it.

Nice old Suzy mate, I had a mint T250 10 years ago, it came out of an old lady's garage, her hubby bought it to commute to work on, then dropped it, so parked it in his garage and drove his car to work, ironically, he was killed in a car crash not long afterwards, so it sat in the garage for another 20 years until the old lady was moved into a retirement home and her family paid a friend of mine to clean out her garage, including the little Suzuki.

I swapped him a little MIG welder for it, and it only needed a new coil, and it was away. Great stuff, but at 6 foot four and 300 pounds, we were never gonna have a long relationship, so I sold it to a Lesbian couple who I think would really have enjoyed the high RPM vibration that used to send my testicles to sleep after awhile..........  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Noting of course, that Yamaha, more than any of the other Jap bike makers have tried so hard to copy not just Harley's look, but even went back to building push rod operated V twins to further emulate the Harley sound?  Funnily enough, the resale value of Harleys are still well above the equivalent "Yama-Harley"...........  :P

Just because some mfg's try to copy the look and sound of HD, doesn't change the fact that they are overpriced and under-performance machines. To me, a great bike is one that fits the need of the rider. If you want speed.... get a v-max, Ninja, or a Hayabusa. If you want to do twisties, and speed..... check out the vrf1200......If want loud noise and a lighter wallet, get an HD...... and by the way......

Maybe not mate, but if Harleys are so crap, why do all the Jap bike builders try so hard to copy them? And here's a saying for you, "Japanese Harley Wannabes, possibly the worst investment you'll ever make, everyone will say you bought it because you couldn't afford a harley, and then you won't even be able to sell the thing". ;D

Talked about flawed logic. They build Harley replicas because there's a market for them, and we've made it pretty clear who that market consists of.
