CR750 oil tank
« on: September 27, 2010, 07:44:11 am »
On the CR replica oil tank, like from Meadspeed or Bartell. There are 3 tubes on the top of the tank, one facing forward and 2 facing back. On the motor there is the top cam cover breather and a breather at the rear of the crank case.
I will be running a breather/catch tank under the seat hump. my question is what breather pipes go where? Are all 3 pipes on the top of the tank breathers?

Thanks Kevin

Basically yes - IIRC, the two back facing ones are the feed to and back from the oil catch tank which itself will have a back facing higher vent hose, the front facing smaller diameter pipe attaches to the back of the crankcase breather vent hole I think just in front of the swingarm pivot. I need to go and look in the garage I guess - KOS will know exactly and save me a trip Kevin but if I get there first I'll confirm :-)

Thanks Simon. I presume the top cam cover breather should also go into the catch tank.

IMHO it is better to not put that one in the tank. There will not come oil out of that breather, just condensed air which will contaminate your oil. Better to just let it go out into the air, thru a hose, or into a seperate can.

Cant wait to see the end result Kevin.

Cheers, Rob
Better sorry for failing then for the lack of trying.

Thanks for the help guy's.

Yes not far off now. All at paint right now except for the fairing. Just could not get the thing to fit nice, seems to be too narrow at the bottom and when I pull it out, it then bows the sides. It's the one from airtech. Anyway decided to make a new mold to the corrected size and run a new fairing from it.

Hi Sam,
The test fitting was done without the alternator cover fitted. I will be running a total loss system and the oem cover will be modified to look like the CR cover.

It should fit OK Kevin when you shorten the cover.
