I just ordered these from Joker Machine.
Gives your fork boots something to clamp to instead of the stock headlight ears.

I got my new brake pistons back from my machinist friend who had to make a pocket for the brake pad to sit in.

I got the pistons from www.mototorcycle-parts-finder.co.uk

These were waiting for me at lunch yesterday.
Thanks Scott.

This showed up this morning.

This was too easy.
Bare frame with motor on it's side, took 5 minutes.

Swingarm & triple clamps should be on by this afternoon.

More progress

I may pull the shoes and paint them orange as well.

Should there be a bolt here (I don't see it in any parts diagrams)?

How difficult would it be to install dual disc's up front?
I have another rotor & caliper, looks like the stock hub will accept the second rotor. I was thinking of going with a digital guage set son the speedo drive would not be an issue. Will the stock master cylinder handle a second caliper?

The '77 & '78 CB750F have a dual front disk set up. You could use a master cylinder off one of those.

EDIT: Nevermind this, I just saw that you have gotten one of those. Kudos.

For some reason, there should not be a bolt there.

Slow progress lately (now it's down to the tedious things)
Tank is welded up with the new filler neck and is currently getting relined, engine is oil tight and full of oil, electrical is being sorted out(lots of shortening),longer shocks are on order, controls are mounted, brakes are installed(not bled/waiting for speed bleeders),started work on a new battery box to fit my gel battery.
I'll try to post some more pics later today.

Great Job. I love what you are doing with this build. Can't wait to see the finished bike, maybe in person as I'm near Hamilton.
Dosen't it start snowing in Sept that far north?
The older I get the faster I was.

Snow in September! Thunder Bay is not that far north. Last year we got snow in early December and it was mostly gone by the end of January. You southern Ontario folk had way more snow last year :D

hey!  you took my idea for welding up the tank lid and putting in a better cap!  i'm going to do this with carpy's gas cap!!

nice gauges BTW, i never thought i'd like the look of those KOSO gauges on the old bike, but that looks nice!

is it just me or does the bike sit at kind of a rake?  it looks like the front forks a bit too long??

I have 79 upper tubes that are 1/2 inch longer and the rear shocks are shorter than stock (but I do have longer shocks on the way/CB1100 shocks are just over 14 inches)
I'll drop the forks flush with the top clamp and hopefully with the new shocks it will sit more level.
I found a similiar cap to Carpy's on ebay for about half the price but it is aluminium instead of stainless (seller is boatpartsman)

PS

I HAD IT FIRED UP AT LUNCH TODAY

Quite throaty with only the head pipe.
I'll try to post a video tomorrow with sound.
