FORK TUBE INTERCHANGE
« on: May 27, 2010, 11:48:06 AM »
Will 79 750k upper fork tubes work in my 77 750k lowers?
I've got a set of early 70-72 upper tubes or 79-80 tubes I could use.
I don't have the forks apart to compare.
I know the top caps, springs & seats are different.
They(79-80) must be longer maybe?

Hi mrrch,

The tubes on the later 750's are in fact longer...... About 1 1/2 inches roughly.
The '79 should work fine on the '77.

Just remember, you cannot have any rust or chromed "blisters" on the tubes
in the area that would be in contact with the seal during up or down movement.
