'77 Engine for my '76?

Hi all...found a relatively inexpensive engine not far from home which could provide me with a replacement tranny for my Honda CB750 K ('76...K6)...however, the engine if from a CB750K '77 year...think it will work?...should I ask for the serial number too?...thanks, all...ron.

You definitely gotta get the SN, but I think you'll be OK and I really hope so, I know its been a hassle for you.

Unfortunatley I'm not the one to confirm the answer to your question.

Use the whole engine. You'll appreciate the difference in power. The tranny is geared differently. You'd need to use the whole thing. That would make a difference if you transplant.

Ah crap!...the engine is "frozen" as the current owners calls it...supposedly it ran but I don't want to deal with fixing it...goodness knows the problems I could inherit...was hoping I could just pull the tranny out...ah well the search continues.

Ron, after all youve been thru'...... dont get a 'frozen' turkey. There is a good motor out there for you and an easy transplant into your bike, you will find it soon I'm sure..... and be ridin' it.

        Any 750SOHC will bolt in to 750 frame ,likewise tranny's will swap out,But as per prior thread ,75/76F1's and 77/78K's had regeared trans,except for carbs and clutches they are the same engine  :)i.e. they are higher HP stk than stk 76K
