rockers side to side play
« on: May 27, 2010, 10:11:59 AM »
Adjusting the valve clearances, I noticed that the rockers have some side to side play.  A few millimeters but definitely noticeable.  Is this normal?  I'm assuming it is but wanted to make sure.

Normal.
In fact, I use that during adjustment to get the right drag on the gauge.  I little wiggle to get the gauge to release from the gap.
If it won't wiggle, it is too tight.

Ok, thanks.

On the other hand, I guess I didn't adjust them tight enough.  They slide out without the rocking.  When I tighten down the nut, it actually increases the clearance a bit.  Adjust so it barely moves, tighten down the nut, then the feeler slides around and out freely.
