MAC pipes
« on: May 27, 2010, 09:14:51 AM »
i've had this Mac 4-1 for two seasons ... last season, i had an issue with rust on the inside where the collector meets the muffler . Drilled a little drain hole to cure that...  this season it seems the chrome muffler is turning yellow .. *sigh*

my conclusion : as far as sound, fit, and design the Mac's really hit the mark . I love the look and sound. ..but as far as quality .... don't expect top tear from these pipes .. the chrome sucks and the header pipes seem really thin to me

i would get them again, and would recommend them as well ... just know what your getting

I had some on my XJ750RJ (Yamaha Seca) that I drove in college.  I put them on to replace the pipes that helped remove the front end from a Dodge Dynasty.  They looked great at the start, but were wrecked before I had gotten through one month of and IL winter.  They weren't very good quality back then, and they don't seem any better now.  For the price they give a great sound and perform well though.

Same here, like the sound, don't mind the looks.  But their paint and finish is borrowed from the Soviet Union.  Weak sauce, especially for $300.  I could have done better.

Disclaimer from Mac "or deterioration caused by weather or wear".

I believe any chrome plating problems would be found to be due to weather and therefore Mac would not be bound by their warranty!
