It Lives!
« on: May 28, 2010, 07:13:06 PM »
Well the bike is alive, I took it out and about today for about 30 Kilometers before I had to park it and go to work. This is the first time I have been on a bike since I drove it for 1-1.5 seasons when I was 18-19 years old. It was fun, I am glad to see that another season won't pass by, with me on the sidelines.
I still have to paint the side panels and tank (primed now) and the bike isn't running quite 100% yet, but its good enough for now :)
Will tweak it a bit as the season goes on.

I did notice that the front seemed to takes bumps harder than I assume it should, is this most likely something like low fork oil level? or do I need to shim the springs inside? I am about 250 lbs

I would check the oil levels by draining then in a measuring cup and see if it an issue and replace it anyways while you have it out does it have any obvious leaks around the seals? if so it may warrant a seal replacement.

I did not use a measuring cup but I did drain out the fork fulid, not really much in there.
Picked up some 20 weight fork oil and put in 6oz and added a 3/4 inch brass spacer at the top, I have not really noticed much of a difference from before, perhaps I don't have a good feel for it as I am just back to riding again.
No leaks that I can see, seals seem good.

The front brake feels soft and I don't know why, I have bled it. I made sure the little holes in the master cylinder were clear, put a long clear tube on the bleeder nut and sucked until there were no air bubbles comming through. The lever still feels soft though, suggestions?
