Nylon Abrasives...
« on: June 02, 2010, 09:26:54 PM »
Anyone ever use a nylon abrasive wheel and a grinder for removing left over gasket and the gasket adhesive? I went out and bought the nylon wheel, it works really good for the gasket glue, and loosens up the left over gasket chunks. I started out by using the old razor blade and patience, but soon my patience ran out. Here's a vid of what gave me the idea. I'm not using that exact wheel (they didn't have one at the Harbor Freight.) But you get the idea.

Nice, I'll have to keep an eye out for those.  I wonder how durable they are?

I use 3M brand nylon paint strip discs to remove all my old gaskets, and they work great. Base gaskets stuck on the cylinder block are harder, as the sleeves protruding thru the block get in the way, but I find that paint stripper will lift them, easy peasy! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
