Where should the green/red wire be connnected?
« on: May 30, 2010, 05:26:09 AM »
On cleaning underneath my 750k2, this wire was dangling, it seems to be a partially armoured/covered cable. The connector seems to have been severed also.
I've been having trouble with the electric start amongst other things. My feeling is it's the earth cable, but I can't see where to connect it to. As the cable has snapped and is shorter, is there a nearer position to attach it?

A green/red cable is most likely the neutral switch wire (ground for neutral light actuation). The switch is located in the lower crankcase (underneath) near gear change/cover.

Thanks.
The cable is coming out of the crankcase, so that end is connected. Where do I connect the other end, which I presume is the earthed end?

It should have a round eyelet on the end - or it's broken. Does your neutral light work? If not this wire connects underneath to the neutral switch with a Phillips head.

Thanks - so I'm looking for a screw underneath the engine that probably still has the round connector attached right?
I'll check the neutral light tomorrow (dark now here in UK). I say underneath the engine as that was where it was hanging from?

If the screw is missing it is an M4 screw about 5mm long.  I just ordered a pack of 100 from McMaster Carr.  Let me know if you need one.  I should have them by Wednesday.

Thanks for the pic; I can take a look now.
Srook- thanks, but I'm in the UK, so postage may be a bit costly.
