Where can I find a starter button for my 75 cb750 K5?
« on: July 12, 2010, 03:24:21 PM »
hey guys...I got this neat ol bike about a month ago and I am trying to locate pieces and parts for all of it.  One thing I am having trouble finding is the starter button.  The actual starter works if I jab a o-ring puller into the little hole, but I dont want to continue doing this. (Not safe on the electronics and it looks like I am hot-wiring my own bike just to get it started)  I dont need the whole assembly, just the button and the spring that goes in behind it...anyone got any ideas?  Thanks in advance for any info!!!

partsnmore.com sells a starter button repair kit. You have to order $35 as a minimum though.

hey mycb750k6 I live in Texas...do ya want me to pm my address to ya?  Is the button and the spring the only thing I need if all the other "guts" are there that make it start?  According to the pic from that link, it looks like I need that little brass post thingy...you got that too?

I'm not sure how the post can be too long and missing at the same time???  ???

Is this the "post" you're refering to? Is this what you're looking for?

Doesnt the K5 have the type that turns off the headlamp then turns on the starter?

Sorry SohRon I meant to say that the button portion that he sent me was too long to fit into the right handlebar assembly, and that there was no brass post in the envelope...just the black plastic button (that is too long) and a spring.  The picture posted above is exactly what I am needing but the only place I have found it online to buy is from the link that was posted in the 2nd comment of this thread.  Anyone know where to get one of these?

bryanj im not sure what you are talking about.  The right side assembly has the headlight switch to turn off my headlight, but I dont think the starter button turns the headlight off.  I turn my headlight on in the daytime, and I can start my motorcycle by putting an o-ring pick into the hole, but Im not sure if it turns the headlight off.  Not sure what you are meaning...I am just missing the black button, spring (which I may have one that will work with what I had sent to me this week) and the brass post...thanks

Why "uggghhh!!!"  It's available from partsnmore.  Put together an order of $35 and its yours.  Get yourself some filters and a new set of grips and you should have it easy.  There's got to be something else your bike needs.  There's always something.  If you really can't spend the money, take the guts out of your horn button and move them to the start button (their identical).  Your stock horn is pretty useless anyway.

The refrence to the headlight is the later bikes had a switch not just the button thingy. My 75 750F needed a complete switch because it turns the headlight off when the starter is engaged. If you have the headlight switch on the right control it is the early style and I have moved a horn button over to the right side to make it work.
