Not a great thirst quencher, but Anchor Steam in SanFrancisco only occasionally used to make a barley wine (sold in half-bottles) called "Old Foghorn". Thick as chocolate syrup. Nectar of the Gods. Great for that climate where you wear flannel shirts 10 months of the year.

In the mid-west they used to make a half-bottle ale called Little Kings I thought was real good.

For summer, Ohio had Stroh's- "the bohemian fired brewed beer". Wasn't any good in other locations.

Boy- a beer would sure go down good now. Wish I could drink still...

...except for Detroit, where it was made. Alas, they sold out to Miller and PBR, so I don't drink it anymore.

I guess the 75% Irish in me loves Guinness Extra Stout. When asked why I like it, I say, "Well, I'm not 100% Irish, so I take supplements!"

The only thing "our" Fosters has in common with Aussie beer is the can and the advertising. It's made in the Courage brewery just down the road (together with Kronenborg 1664) and Courage Best.

I wouldn't drink it for the taste, but when it's really hot it hits the spot!

It also helps that it's generally on offer at the local Sainsburys for about £12 a case (of 24)

Put a slab in yer fridge Mutty, and I'll be right around! Even though I'd prefer Jack Daniels, it's no secret that VB is the best beer in the free world, if you disagree, you've never tried it! Cheers! Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Gotta voice in on this one --

Weyerbacher is a local brewery in Easton, PA. They make maybe 3000 barrels a year. Their Blithering Idiot Barleywine Style Ale cannot be beat. Insanity Ale is also fantastic -- aged in oak barrels (used for whiskey, just to keep you non-beer drinkers happy).

For hot summer chugging after mowing the lawn, it's Yuenglingc Lager, straight from Pottsville.

If you can't tell, the local yokels know how to do it!

Jaan ;)

ok, I know the reaction I'm gonna get for this one..... ::)

PABST BLUE RIBBON ! ! !

...no foolin', I've played in bands long enough (and it is almost always the beer that bands get free) that I have acquired quite a taste for it....and don't forget the Dennis Hopper line as Frank Booth in the movie "Blue Velvet"...."Heineken? F*CK THAT SH*T! PABST BLUE RIBBON!"

I also really like Rolling Rock and Yuengling

Funny you should mention Harvey's. I sell it here in Chicago...well, three of their beers.

I sell:

Harvey's Thomas Paine Original Old Ale
Harvey's Thomas Paine Old Brown Ale
Harvey's Thomas Paine Old Porter

The Brown Ale is awesome.  They're all outstanding but the Brown is the best of the bunch.

If I had to pick ONE beer for my favorite, which is a shame in itself, I would have to be...

Traquair Jacobite Ale from Scotland.
