OK I see what you are saying. I'm not sure you can make a blanket statement like that. There are way too many scenarios on this site.  I would believe it depends more on the individuals and the condition of the bike. If I had a pristine 750 that only needed new pipes (because of 2-2s or headers or whatever) I believe spending the 1200 would add 1200 in value to the bike for those who want stock. Not spending the money would definitely reduce the bike value IMO. Likewise if I had a rust bucket, throwing 1200 pipes at it would be throwing good money after bad and in that scenario I would agree with you. Who would do that anyway though. But there are plenty of people buying 300s and their bikes are increased in value by more than just a fraction - once again IMO.

In my case, I have already purchased a new saddle, new side covers, I'll be polishing up the engine, 836, head work, HM ignition, new tires, etc.  I also have brand new pipes.  I got them on the used market but they have not been used.  I might have bought brand new if I didn't find the "used" ones.  This will be my rider.

On the other hand, I have other 750's that won't get the top shelf treatment but I'm not emotionally wrapped around the axle on them either.  Will they get new OEM pipes?  nah.
