There are no real tricks. The procedure I use follows: loosen the clamps on the rubber boots on either side of the carbs, loosen the clamp on the rubber boot which connects the outboard rubber plenum to the airbox, remove the cables to the throttle, turn of gas and remove fuel lines from the carbs, remove the air filter element, pry out the oval metal pipe between the air filter box and the outboard rubber plenum (you will need a big screw driver to get the rubber seal off the air box), remove the drain line from the bottom of the outboard plenum, remove the outboard plenum, pry off the carburetors ( you will not change the carb sync as they are all still attached together). Job done. To reinstall just do the procedure in reverse. I have found the most difficult part is getting the oval rubber seal back on to the air filter box. I use a two by four and a smaller board to leverage it in.
