TMOPS
« on: June 08, 2010, 09:42:06 AM »
Anyone else suffer from TMOPS? (too many ongoing projects syndrome) I realised this morning that i have three old trucks to redo. One van to maintain, a 64 pontiac to i don't even know what to do with anymore and the cb, and i  still catch myself slowing down to eyeball anything that would look good shiny.  To top it off i work out of province for five days a week.  Anyone else have this problem? lol go on and post it :)

Oh, my, yes...

Bikes:
71 SL100 project FINALLY back on-line.  My only actual RUNNER at the moment.
74 Kawasaki KZ400 DeLuxe
85 Suzuki GS700E
82 Honda FT500 (son's wrecked bike)
88 Honda NX250 (son's ongoing bike (maintenance w/him) )
83 Honda XL100 mini-cafe project

Cars:
none, really, other than wifes 110k minivan and own 165k truck

Other:
boat - 19' runabout.  Boats ALWAYS need something....
motorhome - 28' Allegro Bay.  Had two blowouts over the Memorial Day weekend.  Needs 7 new tires!!  Along with the normal ongoing 'to do' list.

House:
new shelves in pantry (promised as a Christmas present last year...)
cinch bugs slowly destroying front yard...
riding mower problem - one blade is not same level as 2nd blade...?

Jeez, when I spell it all out like that, it's depressing...   :(

No, it's an off-brand from Home Depot - Yardman by MTD, I think.

And, it's not really that the blades aren't at the same level, it's that one of 'em is not parallel to the ground, so it digs a gouge in the grass as you go 'round.  At first I thought it was the deck itself, but I checked and adjusted that.  Looking under there, I can see that one blade just isn't level.  Blade doesn't appear to be bent either, so I think the vertical shaft on which it spins is not perpendicular to the ground anymore.  I haven't looked to see how that shaft is supported - bearings, etc.

Plus, we (my sons and I) have been pretty abusive of it since we moved into our current house a few years back - we use it as "property clearing" duty so we've hit quite a lot of stumps, vines, rocks, etc.  :)  It's no wonder it doesn't cut GRASS well anymore...  :-[ ;D

Always had it, never knew there was a name for it. So many they are almost frozen in time. Dragster, 40 chevy street rod, 69 firebird, 750 F, K, chopper, brothers 3 projects that get worked on 2 hours a month, daughters boyfriends chevelle with no wiring. I retired to take a job that never happened, so now I have the time but not the money.

The ongoing, never ending project of a 110 year old house that my wife decided we need to sell. Every time I get one thing sort of wrapped up she comes up with something else I need to do before we can put it on the market.  ::)
That leaves no time for the CB.  :(

I do.... but I'm really good about this ..... and I'm associated with 3 of the most project pron people you'll ever meet...

So here's my gig....  I do ONE thing at a time... PERIOD.... it's my mantra... if I'm doing something and parts become an issue... I take a break or go to a pre-planned long term project.

I always finish what I start.... ( If I wasn't going to finish it First, why start it )....

Serious as a heart attack.... this is exactly how I do business... in everything I do...

No kidding....... it's all about Focus...

Focus is the secret to defeating TMOPS. I just don't have that much focus.

I think just owning a house, let alone one that's 60 years old, puts me firmly in this category. :'(

Then add on three old motorcycles, a 14 year old Subaru, a full-time job, and two small children, plus an RC car hobby, etc, etc... ;D
