I recently installed a set of points and condensers they worked well for about two days with .16 gap and now the 3-4 set is arcing all over the place going right past the contact to the spring/plate:-( any thoughts? Bad condenser?  The point surfaces look good and flat? Maybe cross cut the faces? Super stressed about this backfire's are funny once or twice  but it can't be good for the valves

Replacing the condenser couldn't hurt.

Just because it is new doesn't mean it works.
Bought a new coil that didn't work when I hooked it up.

New points are often coated to prevent corrosion while on the shelf.  Clean the point faces with a white, non-glossy business card soaked with brake cleaner.  If that doesn't solve it, swap the condensers.  If the arcing follows the condensers, then you have a bad one.

Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Check if you have installed correctly. Is everything that should be isolated truely isolated? Fiber rings etc are tiny and a mistake is easily overlooked. Maybe something grounds that should't ground. Maybe something came loose.
