they were called Comstars, and where assembled from several pieces.  Not as good as cast one piece wheels, but some guy's here have done a nice job restoring and painting.

Yup, definitely Comstars, they are the same as the ones I have on my K3. As far as I am concerned they seem to be really nice wheels. Easier to clean than spokes for sure!! And they look nice too.

I've heard a story of a guy going across country on twin  400 and had a wobble, it was his comstar comming apart. He was lucky a local shop had an extra one so he wasn't stranded long.

Boy I thought everyone knew what Comstars are.  But then Tretnine is about half my age.

'I bought this bike running from a guy in Philly 5 years ago. I then let it sit so it needs a major tune up to get it on the road. That said it's got plenty of original attitude. All the electronics work including the starter and it also has a new battery. It starts but runs rough. Also needs one new red side cover and a new left rear blinker'

I wonder why there are no pictures of the left side of the bike?

They're regular (or the original) Comstars.  Most people thought they were fugly. Honda reversed the parts in later years so that the edges faced outward instead of inwards.  Honda also painted the later Comstars black and highlighted the edges. Kind of like how some guys take the paint of the edges of their engine fins.

Here is a picture of a pair of original Comstars I recently bought for my F1.  Sorry about the crappy cellphone picture. 

Haven't started trying to make them fit on my bike yet.
